00:00:00 The name of this video is queueing on and bit connect and while I think most of you are familiar with Q Anon, you might not know what bit connect is, so I'm going to have to explain that really quick.
00:00:10 Lots of you watching this probably remember the crypto craze, the Bitcoin bubble from last year early this year and that some of the spectacular.
00:00:20 Bubbles that popped during that time, the most notorious cryptocurrency quote UN quote to go belly up was Bitconnect bit connect was a was a Bitcoin Ponzi scheme. The way it worked was you would deposit your Bitcoin.
00:00:37 And you were you had to keep it locked in to bit connect.
00:00:40 You couldn't take it out without paying a penalty.
00:00:43 And then after a certain amount of time, you'd get some insane return on that.
00:00:48 And the way they explained, getting this return was they told everyone they had this mysterious trading bot.
00:00:55 And because Bitcoin was so volatile.
00:00:58 Their software would just know exactly when the trade, and they could always make you know 10 to 20%, I mean.
00:01:06 If you did the math.
00:01:07 You were basically doubling your money every couple of months.
00:01:11 If you believe what they were saying, which is obviously impossible, you were told not to cash out because if you cashed out, you would lose everything or you would lose a big chunk of your weddings.
00:01:21 So people were really encouraged to keep their money with Big Connect.
00:01:25 But the people that did cash out.
00:01:26 Were just paid.
00:01:27 Out essentially by the new people that were putting their money in as a lot of people suspected and has turned out later there, there was no trading.

00:01:35 All a classic Ponzi scheme.
00:01:39 Using Bitcoin and like every Ponzi scheme, it had to eventually fail the way they kept getting people to give them.

00:01:48 Was to tell them trust.
00:01:49 This mysterious trading bot that makes perfect Bitcoin trades all you have to do is just just give us your Bitcoin trust this trading bot and.

00:02:20 Over the place and the people that bought into it, they weren't completely stupid.
00:02:25 There was some supporting evidence that seemed to back up what Bitconnect was saying, I mean.
00:02:30 Bitcoin prices were going through the roof.
00:02:33 In fact, nearly every cryptocurrency was.
00:02:36 It was easy to make money in that market, but because it was volatile, it was also really easy to lose money and it was kind of difficult to set up an account with an exchange and deal with the aspects of of 24 hour trading that never closed.
00:02:52 And and the ever growing list of different coins that you had to research.
00:02:56 So you know people who heard about cryptocurrency but didn't want to.
00:03:00 Have to learn about.
00:03:02 The you know how cryptocurrency worked, or even what a smart contract was.
00:03:07 They would watch these videos that have popped up all over YouTube from these normal everyday.
00:03:12 Sounding people that we're saying, hey, we're gonna let you in on the secret.
00:03:15 Just all you have to do is trust the the bit connect trading bot give bit.
00:03:19 Collect all your money and just sit back and do nothing.
00:03:22 Invest your money with Bitconnect and you will be rich like them.
00:03:26 You'll know the secret, but you don't.
00:03:27 Have to do anything.
00:03:29 You don't have to worry about the technical stuff.
00:03:31 Bit connects going to handle all that, and all you're encouraged to really do is maybe make your own YouTube videos and tell more people about bit connect.

00:03:41 It needs to go mainstream.
00:03:43 So while all this is happening, many of the people who understood cryptocurrency or just Ponzi schemes grew increasingly suspicious of this Bitconnect and eventually began warning people that, hey, you could lose all your money if you keep trusting.
00:03:59 Magic Bot that no one's allowed to see or talk about. I mean, this seems like a Ponzi scheme to us. I don't know if I'd give them your money. These these returns aren't possible and armies.
00:04:10 Of Bitconnect defenders would come out of the woodworks and call them shills and you know, I think some of these probably worked for Bitconnect because they wanted to keep the scam going.
00:04:20 But I I think some of them genuinely thought that someone was trying to hide the magic.

00:04:29 People even made videos explaining to people that the.
00:04:31 Crypto was not a.
00:04:32 Scam and you could indeed make money with crypto.
00:04:37 But big connect.
00:04:38 Was definitely a scam, and when it failed, as every Ponzi scheme fails, it would give crypto a bad name and it would turn a lot of investors off and.

00:04:48 Would ruin people.
00:04:49 They weren't trying to keep people from making money.
00:04:52 I mean, quite the opposite.
00:04:53 They were trying to keep people from losing their money.
00:04:55 And every time the comment sections.
00:04:57 Would just be.
00:04:58 Filled with these bit connect people defending bit connect, accusing the people who made the videos of being shills for other cryptocurrencies and and they were just afraid of bit connects, rising dominance in the market and again some of these people very well might have believed this OK.
00:05:16 Others might have needed to believe this because they had their life savings.
00:05:21 In bit connect.
00:05:22 And if what these people were saying was true, they were going to be financially ruined.
00:05:28 They were not the financial geniuses they had.
00:05:30 Told their friends.
00:05:32 And Speaking of their friends, how many of their friends and family had they convinced to buy?
00:05:37 Bitconnect if bit connect was a scam, this was going to.
00:05:40 Be an extremely.
00:05:42 Messy situation for a lot of people, but of course bit connect was a scam.
00:05:47 Bitconnect had wrote in the town on the rising popularity of cryptocurrency.
00:05:51 They had preyed on the hopes of people who desperately needed hope.
00:05:56 They saw Bitconnect as an unexpected life preserver that have been tossed to them in a in a raging.
00:06:02 Financial storm.
00:06:03 Or maybe it was to help them pay medical bills.
00:06:05 They convinced people to trust them by exploiting their dreams and exploiting their hope.
00:06:11 And that's how it spread.
00:06:13 Like a virus.
00:06:14 And then one day, just like this, the connect went to zero.
00:06:19 When this was happening, I was actually day trading crypto and I had been one of those voices warning people not to trust.
00:06:26 Bit connect and when I saw the news I decided to go to the Bitconnect subreddit to watch the reaction in real time, and I'll admit it when I decided to do this it was to laugh at their pain.

00:06:40 Watch these people, who had been calling me.
00:06:41 A show or.
00:06:42 Worse, all because I was trying to help.
00:06:44 Them get their just.
00:06:47 But I never, I mean, I never got the satisfaction I was hoping for.

00:06:53 It was just sad.
00:06:54 All I saw was a mix of devastation and denial, people saying they'd lost everything, people that were going to be homeless now.
00:07:04 There were also people who I I would be surprised if they did not commit suicide.
00:07:09 The the language that was being used.
00:07:11 I mean people were ruined by this.
00:07:13 But also in all this devastation, there was also the denial.
00:07:17 There were people that, even though the value of Bitconnect had literally gone to 0, still thought that this was all this information and that all everyone on Earth but them.
00:07:27 Had fallen for the disinformation and that now they were going to double down and buy even more bit connect and people did.
00:07:34 People bought more even after it had.
00:07:36 Gone to basically 0.
00:07:38 People bought more bit connect.
00:07:40 There was even like.
00:07:41 A little mini.
00:07:41 Pump after the crash.
00:07:43 I don't know why.
00:07:44 But I mean, humans are funny that way.
00:07:46 So Needless to say, I didn't get the satisfaction I was looking for.
00:07:49 It was, it was just sad and it was sad because the human devastation that was dealt it was dealt out to people.
00:07:57 Who just wanted to have hope?
00:07:58 They just wanted to have some dreams come true.
00:08:01 And honestly, it it takes a certain kind of person to use trust in humanity and hope against people.
00:08:11 So not only were there these human casualties, but what?
00:08:15 You know, what did this mean for the future of?
00:08:16 Cryptocurrency how many of these people you think that have been financially ruined by the Bitconnect scam?
00:08:23 Invest in crypto again, probably almost none of them.
00:08:27 There was no silver lining that connected, just been one giant disaster for everyone involved.
