00:10:52 Involving it just shows dead little boys.
00:10:58 It shows the bodies of dead little boys.
00:11:02 And you're you're immediately.
00:11:05 I mean, they, they they immediately.
00:11:07 You like within the first couple of seconds you're seeing the corpses of of naked like 8 year old boys in a ditch.
00:11:17 So pretty horrifying stuff.
00:11:23 You know, it says that this is 1993 and Robin Hood Hills, West Memphis, AR.
00:11:33 In the background, there's Metallica music playing, which is a little bit.
00:11:38 Odd at 1st until you realize why.
00:11:43 And a again a very heavy metal font, which also seems a bit odd.
00:11:50 And it says Paradise Lost the child murders at Robin.
00:11:55 Hood hills.
00:12:00 And then you're treated with a a montage of some news reports to kind of give you an idea as to where this is going. So this is June 7th, 1993.

00:12:18 Tony Brooks in a statement given to the police and obtained by a Memphis newspaper, 17 year old Jesse.
00:12:23 Miss Kelly allegedly confesses to watching two other suspects choke rape and sexually mutilate 3 W Memphis second graders Jenna Newton reports.
00:12:33 According to the published report, Miss Kelly told police he watched 18 year old Damian Eckles and 16 year old Jason Baldwin brutalized the children with a club and a knife.
00:12:45 The report says Miss Kelly told police Eccles and Baldwin raped one of the boys and sexually mutilated another as part of a cult ritual.
00:12:54 Miss Kelly is quoted as saying he did not take part in the rape and mutilation, but that he helped subdue 1 victim who tried to escape at a press conference Inspector Gary Gitchell.
00:13:05 Said the case against the accused teens is very strong.

00:13:19 The murders since the very beginning of the investigation, people all around West Memphis have come forward with stories of satanic cults.

00:13:34 One year ago, Damian Eccles told the church's youth minister he had a packed with the devil and he was going to hell.
00:13:43 I do know that my youth director talked to Damon extensively after revival that we had and he told him that he could not be saved, that he could not give his heart to Jesus and my youth director then tried to get him to take a Bible and he made the statement that he could not take a Bible because if he did.

00:14:25 This is the mother of one of the boys.

00:14:38 Who were found mutilated, naked, thrown in a ditch, left the you know or or murdered not left to die.
00:14:47 One of the mothers.
00:14:49 And there's a theme especially like with you got to remember this part of the country you're talking about.

00:14:59 We're talking like very low IQ trailer trash white people, and so they're not well spoken.

00:15:15 And so you slowly start getting this impression given to you by the Jewish film makers that they, oh, this is this is deep in the Bible belt.

00:16:09 And then you are introduced to the stepfather.

00:16:27 And because he doesn't realize what's being done with him on camera, he acts he performs for the for the cameras and comes across like kind of a psycho.

00:16:55 And this is a documentary crew that's basically covering the whole case. You know, nothing's gone to trial just yet.

00:17:08 To me, this place as I stand is like hell on Earth because I know that three babies were killed right out here.
00:17:18 Where I stand, I know my son was castrated and possibly laid there on that bank and bled to death.

00:17:27 I know one boys head was beat in beyond recognition.
00:17:31 I know one little boy was skinned, almost like a animal.

01:40:20 Information does suggest that Damien has set fire to his academic classroom on 2 occasions that he has also been truant, engaged in physical confrontations while on school grounds, and has often threatened to put hexes.

01:40:42 In May of 1992, Damien Echols and his underage girlfriend, Deanna Holcomb ran away together because Deanna's parents forbade her to continue seeing him.
01:40:53 They were discovered in a vacant mobile home at Lakeshore Lakeshore Trailer Park on the night of May 19th.
01:40:59 During the arrest, Echols made death threats against the police officer.
01:41:04 And Deanna's father, echoes later told the case worker that he and Deanna had made a suicide pact, that they couldn't be together.

01:41:17 Echos was charged with burglary, breaking and entering and disorderly conduct, sexual misconduct and terroristic threatening.
01:41:23 He was held at the Craighead County Juvenile Detention Center in Jonesborough for two weeks.
01:41:32 Holcomb spent the next two weeks at Mid South Hospital.
01:41:36 This is the the woman he ran, the girl he ran away with her relationship with Echoes ended for a good after the runaway incident on May.
01:41:45 11th of 1993 Holcomb told investigators. So she this is the girl that he ran away with called up when all this stuff was happening, yet another person right caught up in the in the insanity.
01:41:57 And tells the police Damien once told me that he never killed.

01:42:04 So she thought they might want to know that.

01:42:23 He is a coward and I would have or and would have tried to get me to do it.

01:42:28 He was nuts and I had nothing else to do with him.

01:42:40 An Oregon social workers intake summary report on Damian and family dated because so his family thinks alright, he's he's a troublemaker and they move him.

01:43:04 Then the family takes him to a mental institution in Oregon and say that they fear that he's going to hurt himself or others, and they they're afraid to have him in the house.

01:44:03 After he voiced suicidal.
01:44:08 Idea ideation to folks at the detention center saying he's going to hang himself.

01:44:23 He get he finally gets out of the Oregon.
01:44:26 Mental, institutional stuff.
01:44:28 And decides he wants to go live with his step dad back in Arkansas.
01:44:35 Well, there's a reason why his mom.
01:44:37 Divorced the stepdad and went back to.
01:44:40 The real dad.
01:44:41 And that reason was.
01:44:44 His stepdad was molesting the Damien's sister.
01:44:51 And Damian, knowing this because it's in, it's in the psychiatric record.
01:44:55 He's telling his doctors about it, decided to go live with his sister's molester, who has no blood relationship with.

01:45:04 He's now been out of 1 institution.

01:45:10 He's got all these issues.

01:45:19 A personality inventory report from June of 1992 described Eccles as.
01:45:24 Characterized by impulsive hostility and apprehensive mistrust of others, and an edgy defensiveness against criticism, fearing that others will dominate and possibly brutalize him, he puts forward a social, blunt and aggressive public posture.
01:45:40 He fantasizes being all powerful so as to block others.
01:45:44 From possessing the means to be belittling and harmful.
01:45:48 He believes that only alert vigilance and vigorous counteraction can prevent malice of others the desire to gain power and demean others springs from an animosity and a wish to vindicate past grievances.
01:46:03 Although frequently unsuccessful in these aims, this teenager believes that past degradations may be undone.
01:46:09 By provoking fear and intimidation in others.
01:46:15 Staff also expressed concern that Eccles was experiencing hallucinations.

01:46:23 The patient appeared to be sniffing the air around him as if he were responding to an external stimulus when he was questioned as to what he was doing, the patient gave an inappropriate.
01:46:35 Smile and was unwilling to discuss what he was doing upon several occasions.
01:46:41 The patient also cut his eyes in One Direction or the other, as if he were hearing or thinking of something before he spoke again.
01:46:49 It did appear to this social worker as though the client was responding to an outside stimulation.
01:46:56 So they think that he's hallucinating because he's acting kind.
01:46:59 Of like a weirdo.
01:47:00 A treatment plan documented another strange behavior.
01:47:04 Quote trying to suck blood.
01:47:07 Off peers who have scratched themselves.

01:47:23 He's obsessed with drinking blood.
01:47:27 Damien's mother later told the social worker that she was, quote, convinced that he is into activity such as witchcraft and is very concerned about the quality.

01:47:36 He developed while living in Arkansas for this reason reason she felt coming to Oregon would be a new beginning for him.

01:47:44 The the parents called the cops on him.
01:47:48 They get and this is in September of 92. So this after he's already spent time in the mental institution they call the cops and the the cops have them committed. This is all still in Oregon.

01:48:08 And the ER, the ER nurse said that that they were worried about him doing harm to himself or others.
01:48:17 And then after they they released him from the the hospital in Saint Vincent, Oregon, he got on a bus because he was 18 and he got on a bus, went back into Arkansas to live with his pedophile stepdad.

01:53:26 The spirit was put inside him last year.
01:53:29 He indicates that a month ago.
01:53:31 The spirit decided to become part of him and he and he to become part of the.
01:53:37 This is reportedly a spirit of a woman who has killed that was killed by her husband.
01:53:43 One question about how he feels with this spirit, or what the difference is, Damien is able to relate that he feels stronger and more powerful with this spirit.

01:53:55 In addition, he also reports conversations with demons and other spirit.

01:54:03 He denies that he is satanic, seeing himself more as being involved in demonology.
